I am sure that many of us need to control our anger from time to time however some people require additional help via anger management classes or anger management therapy.
Over the last few years there have been some major developments into the way that anger management is treated with the emergence of a few alternative therapies such as EFT and reiki. There is, of course, not one therapy that fits all and each person should be assessed on their own individual needs.
There is the more basic “breathe and release” approach. This is not just simply a case of learning a breathing technique but is where a person learns how to manage their anger by moving away from a potential “anger” situation as soon as they start to become “het up”. This can be as simple as a husband going to take his dog for a walk when he feels tense within the house; this tension may have come about via stress/nagging from his wife for example. Instead of allowing the tension to continue to rise which could then of course lead to an argument the husband instead defuses the situation by going out for a walk – simple but effective.
Then there are the tricky child anger management problems. Here it is important to attempt to understand the reasons why the child is becoming so upset and disruptive. This at times is easier said than done as the majority of children in this situation are unwilling to “open up”. A reward system can often work when dealing with children; this may sound strange however it is very effective.
